Welcome to GlassFish v3, the next major release of the GlassFish Application Server. GlassFish v3 builds on the strength of GlassFish v2 but takes a completely new approach, providing a highly modular, lightweight, extensible architecture.

GlassFish v3 Technology Preview 2 (TP2) is a milestone release of the GlassFish v3 Application Server. This page provides a brief description of TP2, and points to the information you need to get started.

What is TP2?

TP2 gives you an early look at GlassFish v3. It is not a full, feature-complete application server and is not suitable for production deployments. It is suitable for experimentation and exploration, however, which is exactly what we hope you'll do. Experiment with the code, take a look at the new approach being taken in GlassFish v3, and then let us know what you think (maybe even get involved?).

What is the License?

GlassFish Community Distributions are available under a Dual License consisting of the Common Development and Distribution License (CDDL) v1.0 and GNU General Public License (GPL) v2. See the third-party readme for external components included in GlassFish v3 and their associated licenses.

What's in TP2?

TP2 contains a subset of all features in the GlassFish v3 Application Server and of the technologies in the Java EE 5 platform, which means it doesn't contain everything! It contains just the core v3 modules, Java EE web tier technologies, the Java Persistence API, and non-Java programming language containers. The TP2 content list describes what's in TP2.
